The Electronics Service Journeyman installs, troubleshoots, repairs, programs, and maintains electronic signs, LED display systems, lighting systems, and related electrical equipment. The role combines field service with diagnostics and repair of electronic components and circuit boards, supporting customer-facing service operations and in-shop repair while ensuring accurate troubleshooting, high-quality workmanship, and reliable sign performance. Work may take place in a service vehicle, at a job site, or at an electronics workbench. The technician may respond to field service calls, diagnose LED display problems, repair and program components, operate lift equipment, test circuit boards, read schematics, coordinate repairs, and communicate with customers and internal teams. The role also includes maintaining documentation, tools, vehicles, inventory, and work areas, and assisting less experienced technicians and apprentices.
