About The Position

We are excited to announce a new opportunity for an Electrical/Electronics Designer within our Digital Solutions team focused on providing expertise in electrical engineering to support design, testing, analysis, reporting, and quality assurance activities. The focus of this position will be on low voltage DC PCBs for new geotechnical instrumentation. This role involves collaboration across departments to offer technical support and contribute to the development of new products and process improvements.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in electronics design, particularly with STMicro and PIC microcontrollers.
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, megohmmeters, and soldering irons.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols, including UART, I2C, SPI, and RS485.
  • Experience in firmware design and programming languages such as C, Assembly, Python, C++, C#, and Bash
  • Proficiency with source control tools (e.g., Git, Bitbucket).
  • Proven experience in product certification standards (e.g., EMC, CE, UKCA, Anatel, Electrical Safety).
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong skills in preparing test/manufacturing procedures, documentation, and test reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new skills on the job.

Nice To Haves

  • PLC experience considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Design electronic systems/products and create physical models using CAD tools (e.g., Eagle PCB, Altium, KiCAD).
  • Collaborate with x-functional and x-brand teams as required to develop ideas and designs for new products aligning with customer requirements and voice of customer (VoC)
  • Participate in the development and prototyping of new products being developed
  • Lead and/or participate in the generation of test plans (DVP&R) and the execution of electrical testing for products.
  • Generate test reports for electrical testing and recommendations for improvements.
  • Perform root cause analysis for product (RMA) or process failures and implement solutions.
  • Support the Manufacturing team by identifying and contributing to process improvements, recommending changes as needed.
  • Develop and write new production procedures for approval.
  • Participate and/or lead Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) in compliance with established processes.
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance (QA) department to ensure compliance with product and process standards.
  • Participate in the certification of electronic products.
  • Communicate and coordinate with external electrical suppliers.
  • Can support Manufacturing Engineering projects as needed.
  • Provide additional electrical support as required
