About The Position

Incumbents troubleshoot, maintain, and repair police and emergency equipment and associated components. This position requires a high school diploma or GED and three years of experience troubleshooting, installing, repairing, and maintaining advanced electronic equipment, preferably in a public safety or military environment. A valid Nevada driver license is also required. The salary for this position is negotiated through a collective bargaining agreement, with new employees starting at the minimum and eligible for merit increases.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience troubleshooting, installing, repairing, and maintaining advanced electronic equipment, preferably in a public safety or military environment.
  • Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid, appropriate Nevada driver license.
  • Be a citizen/naturalized citizen or permanent resident alien without conditions on status of the United States of America by the date of the first test instrument.
  • Be at least 18 years old by the date of the first test instrument.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of vehicle public safety equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electronic equipment to the component level.
  • Experience with the tools and test equipment used to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electronic equipment.
  • Experience in the troubleshooting, repair, and programming of Land Mobile Radios.
  • Experience in the troubleshooting and repair of dispatch consoles and console peripherals used in a public safety dispatch facility.
  • Knowledge of the Windows OS and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
