About The Position

Amentum, working with Nexus, is hiring an Electronic Component Engineer to provide electrical, electronic, and electromechanical (EEE) parts support for NASA Government-Furnished Equipment (GFE) flight projects and NASA programs. The position reports to the Electronics and Electrical Section Manager and works within a group of approximately 50 Electronics and Electrical Engineers. The role supports NASA’s spaceflight efforts by assessing component suitability and reliability and helping projects select, qualify, and manage high-reliability parts. The engineer evaluates proposed EEE parts lists for hardware criticality and environmental suitability; reports findings about manufacturers, materials, construction, derating, and reliability to the EEE Parts Control Board; recommends replacement parts; and assists with part failure investigations. The position also supports qualification plans, screening, and Non-Standard Part Approval Requests (NSPAR), reviews military and industry specifications and standards for NASA applications, and performs other assigned duties. The role generally takes place in an office, though tasks may involve indoor or outdoor work. Work may require extended periods of sitting or standing and occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds. Regular attendance is critical, and the employee may need to work outside the normal schedule and adjust hours during peak periods or surge requirements. Proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent residency may be required, and the candidate must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation. The position is advertised at multiple levels; management may select at any advertised level.
