About The Position

Akicita Federal is hiring an Electroencephalogram (EEG) Technician to deliver high-quality neurological diagnostic services for Veterans receiving care at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System in Los Angeles, CA. In this role, you will work directly with a dedicated team of VA clinicians to support accurate diagnosis and treatment of neurological conditions for those who have served our country. This is a full-time, on-site position providing critical diagnostic support to one of the nation's largest VA healthcare systems.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience performing EEG studies in a clinical setting
  • Proficiency with standard EEG recording equipment and software
  • Knowledge of electrode placement protocols, artifact recognition, and waveform interpretation
  • Ability to work on-site at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (11301 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90073)
  • Ability to pass a VA background investigation and meet credentialing requirements prior to start

Nice To Haves

  • Registration or eligibility for registration as an EEG Technologist through the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET)
  • Prior experience working within a VA, DoD, or other federal healthcare environment
  • Familiarity with VA electronic health record systems (e.g., CPRS/VistA or Oracle Health)
  • Experience with long-term monitoring, epilepsy monitoring units (EMU), or evoked potential studies
  • Strong patient communication skills with experience serving complex or diverse patient populations, including veterans

Responsibilities

  • Perform electroencephalographic recordings on patients, including routine, ambulatory, and extended EEG studies
  • Prepare patients for EEG procedures by explaining the process, applying electrodes according to the 10-20 international system, and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout
  • Monitor and record brain activity data during studies, identifying and documenting artifacts and clinically significant waveforms in real time
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain EEG equipment to ensure accurate recordings and optimal functionality
  • Collaborate with neurologists and clinical staff to communicate findings, flag urgent or abnormal results, and support timely patient care decisions
  • Maintain thorough and accurate patient records, procedure documentation, and equipment logs in compliance with VA clinical standards
  • Assist with scheduling, patient flow coordination, and department quality assurance activities as needed
