About The Position

ICON is hiring a Manufacturing Electro-Mechanical Technician III for its Printer Assembly team at the Austin, Texas campus. The role works on the production floor across assembly, fabrication, paint, and other production areas, using tools to assemble purchased and manufactured parts into finished products while following safety, quality, and standard-work protocols. The technician performs production assembly, troubleshooting, testing, equipment operation, and documentation. The role requires judgment on new or non-standard builds and test setups, coordination with engineering on complex issues, and clear documentation of build and test events. The position reports to the Manager, Manufacturing Production.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of hands-on electrical and mechanical experience.
  • Experience assembling and testing manufactured goods.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficiency with internal software applications, CAD/drawing viewers, and document-control (PDM) systems.
  • Ability to work in a factory setting.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work on platforms above 10 feet.
  • Ability to independently interpret complex, multi-discipline drawings, models, schematics, and work instructions, and draft or redline documentation as needed.
  • Proficiency with power tools and good motor skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, analytical skills, and reasoning skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a cross-functional team environment and exercise judgment on new or unfamiliar assignments while following established work instructions.
  • Comfort with frequent changes of direction and a dynamic work environment, and the ability to perform time-sensitive analysis under pressure.
  • Electrical wiring installation skills and experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Support work-area safety, cleanliness, material usage, and shop organization; identify and escalate non-obvious safety or quality risks on new or unfamiliar assignments.
  • Perform production assembly, rework, troubleshooting, and in-process repair; determine methods for new or non-standard builds when work instructions do not fully address the situation.
  • Document assembly improvements and, when appropriate, serve as an informal lead for less experienced technicians on the floor.
  • Set up, operate, and adjust equipment, and perform minor preventative maintenance to meet safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
  • Conduct analytical tests, measure and record data using established and new test methods and software, and inspect and test finished products during and after engineering builds.
  • Coordinate independently with engineering on complex build and test issues, recommend improved manufacturing and test methods, and apply structured problem-solving and root cause analysis to recurring failures.
  • Document complex or non-standard build and test events clearly enough for someone who was not present to act on.
