About The Position

The incumbent is responsible for the following tasks: Inspect, test, repair, and calibrate industrial instruments and control systems. Maintain and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers, sensors, transmitters, analyzers, and other automated systems. Perform preventive maintenance and ensure that work performed is accurately documented. Collaborate with electricians, mechanics, and production teams to identify and resolve equipment-related issues. Ensure that all work is performed safely and in accordance with company standards and applicable regulations. Recommend improvements to increase the reliability and efficiency of processes. The automation technician works closely with the production and maintenance teams to address any electrical issues related to our production equipment to ensure continuous and reliable production. Must learn how the various production machines operate. Check machine operation and determine the cause of malfunctions. Read and interpret electrical diagrams to troubleshoot and diagnose problems. Perform tests on electrical and electronic components to check continuity, current, voltage, and resistance. Inspect, repair, and/or install cables, lighting fixtures, cameras, sensors, encoders, circuit breakers, switches, transformers, electric motors, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), user interfaces, and any other electrical and electronic components of our industrial control systems. Check PLC control programs to identify the causes of malfunctions and modify the programming as necessary. Adjust the settings of various programmable logic controllers and automated system components (e.g., PID loop adjustments) Calibrate Equipment. Participate in projects to install new equipment and upgrade existing equipment. Build control panels and consoles. Write technical descriptions for future users (e.g., write a calibration procedure) Modify the computer programs that control programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to improve their performance or add new features.

Requirements

  • Certificate in Industrial Electrical Work, Industrial Instrumentation Technician, and/or Red Seal Journeyman certification with 2 years of experience
  • Solid knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and electronic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Bilingual
  • Demonstrate a desire to continue learning and advancing in the electrical trade and stay abreast of new developments in the field.
  • Be willing to work day and night shifts, as well as weekends, as needed.
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and SCADA systems.
  • Willingness to work in various conditions, including at heights, in dusty environments, and in confined spaces.
  • Be mindful of workplace safety
  • Comply with the Company’s requirements regarding the use of safety equipment
  • Using the computerized preventive maintenance system, the employee must adhere to and meet the established standards for each task to be performed.

  • Inspect, repair and/or install cables, light fixtures, cameras, sensors, encoders, circuit breakers, switches, transformers, electric motors, programmable logic controllers, electronic speed systems (VFD), user interfaces, as well as any other electrical and electronic components of our industrial control systems.
  • Check the control programs of programmable controllers to find the causes of failures and modify the programming if necessary.
  • Adjust the parameters of various programmable controllers and components of automated systems (for example, PID loop adjustments).
  • Calibrate equipment.
  • Participate in the project to install new equipment and update existing equipment.
  • Manufacture control panels and consoles.
  • Write technical descriptions for future users (for example, write a calibration procedure).
  • Adapt the computer programs controlling programmable controllers in order to improve their operation or to add to them.
  • Ensure the quality of the work performed.
  • Report problems to his supervisor
  • Communicate with their supervisor regarding current or potential issues.
