About The Position

This role supports the production of quality products by ensuring electrical equipment and systems remain safe, reliable, efficient, and operational. The position is responsible for the design, installation, repair, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of electrical systems for buildings, facilities, and equipment in accordance with internal standards and applicable codes. Work is performed using standard tools, materials, procedures, and ISO/AS work instructions while supporting quality and continuous improvement initiatives. The candidate must hold and maintain a current Connecticut electrician license. Performs other duties as assigned consistent with ADA requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, trade school/apprenticeship completion, or equivalent.
  • Three to five years of experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent.
  • Must hold and maintain a current, valid Connecticut electrician license and remain current with applicable state building and safety codes.
  • Must have an adequate complement of personal tools to perform assigned work.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must comply with company policies regarding drugs, alcohol abuse, and firearms.
  • Ability to take complex measurements and perform advanced math involving tolerances, dimensions, and metric, decimal, and fractional calculations used in production.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English and to interpret material lists, schematics, logic diagrams, specifications, inspection standards, and related instructions.
  • Must be able to follow detailed instructions, operate equipment, assess product and equipment quality, and solve technical problems.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems, work independently and as part of a team, and exercise sound judgment while coordinating with supervisors, engineering, and purchasing.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team, take responsibility for conduct, attitude, quality and quantity of work, communication, accuracy, and timeliness, and maintain a respectful, cooperative, and constructive approach with others.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a broad range of electrical work including the installation, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of electrical fixtures, control equipment, circuits, generators, panel boards, transformers, circuit breakers, heating units, and wiring associated with plant machinery, facilities, production lines, and new equipment.
  • Works from schematics, blueprints, layouts, work orders, and verbal or written instructions to install, wire, diagnose, and resolve electrical issues.
  • Inspects electrical appliances, circuits, components, lighting, and systems to diagnose problems and determine repair or troubleshooting needs for new and existing equipment.
  • Designs control circuitry; disassembles, repairs, and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts; services motors and control devices; completes circuits to specification; and inspects finished work for compliance with applicable state and federal codes.
  • Maintains required records and documentation, prepares project estimates for labor, materials, and cost, obtains necessary parts and supplies, reports malfunctions or shortages, and may recommend process improvements to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Provides timely technical support to maximize equipment and facility utilization and minimize production loss.
  • Plans, lays out, tests, rebuilds, repairs, services, measures, cuts, sizes, and reworks machinery, parts, components, systems, and equipment using math skills and experience in electrical maintenance, light carpentry, industrial construction, plumbing maintenance, and general labor.
  • Uses a full range of maintenance and electrical hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment, including lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, welders, meters, oscilloscopes, computers, and related devices.
  • Performs work involving cutting, bending, burning, welding, and dismantling assemblies, machinery, and facility systems as needed.
  • Performs and documents preventive maintenance and maintains clean work areas, machinery, and tools.
  • Communicates regularly with supervisors and co-workers regarding production, procedures, equipment, systems, and safety matters affecting the department or facility.
  • May recommend and support improvements to work methods, equipment, documentation, materials, safety practices, and team projects to improve quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
  • May provide technical, electrical, and mechanical guidance to co-workers and may repair, replace, or fabricate necessary parts.
  • Follows company and safety policies and performs all work safely and at a satisfactory level or above.
