About The Position

Responsible for inspecting, repairing, installing, modifying, and maintaining a wide range of electrical and electronic systems, circuits, and equipment. This role requires a solid understanding of industry concepts, practices, and procedures, along with the ability to perform tasks that may directly impact workplace health and safety. The position relies heavily on experience and sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals, often involving complex and varied assignments. This position may lead or direct the work of others and is expected to demonstrate a degree of creativity and independent decision-making. This role typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • Minimum of 6 years of related experience.
  • Formal training, specific certifications and/or license may be required.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical building code requirements, OSHA and NFPA rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics, understand electrical symbols, recognize electrical components, use hand tools related to the job, and operate test equipment.
  • Skilled in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems and building automation controls (if applicable).
  • Proficient in technical and general office computer skills.
  • Assess complex systems and determine the best course of action.
  • Familiar with safety and health policies and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain all types of conduit, wiring, and power distribution equipment for plant operations and machinery.
  • Install and service telephone and data communication lines as needed.
  • Perform installation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems and production equipment.
  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and company safety standards.
  • Utilize standard tools and test equipment associated with the electrical trade.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, diagrams, and written procedures.
  • Operate industrial equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes.
  • Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with vendors and the Purchasing department to obtain necessary materials and supplies.
  • Program and maintain building automation systems as required.
  • Lead electrical or HVAC projects, providing direction to lower-level electricians.
  • Supervise subcontractors on assigned projects when necessary.
  • Actively contribute to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by following all applicable safety and health regulations.
