About The Position

Responsible for learning how to repair, maintain and install electrical systems and equipment, while ensuring the work is in accordance with the current National Electrical Code (NEC). Be able to work with direct supervision and take constructive criticism while learning the electrical trade. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.

Requirements

  • 0-4 years of job related experience.
  • Applicants must be registered for, or attending, an electrical apprenticeship school accredited by the Department of Labor (DOL) Office of Apprenticeship (OA) that meets the minimum requirements of the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA).
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Will be expected to obtain a minimum of 288 hours of electrical training in grounding/bonding, NEC code changes, wiring methods, theory/calculations as required by DORA within 4 years of hire date.
  • Will be expected to obtain a minimum of 10 hours of OSHA curriculum based safety training within 4 years of hire date.
  • Will be expected to pass the Journeyman Electrical exam at the end of the required 8,000 hours of on the job training.
  • 0-4 Years Electrical Apprenticeship Trade School. Be able to provide documentation, if necessary
  • Proficiency in Algebra preferred
  • Must apply to the next available Apprenticeship school year (School is conducted off site, one night a week for 36 weeks/year, four hours a night for four years)
  • Four weeks on-call required annually
  • Apprentice Electrician - CO Dept of Regulatory Agencies (DORA), Apprentice Electrician License - Colorado Department Of Regulatory Agency (DORA), Must obtain an Electrical Apprentice License within one week of hire date - Colorado Department Of Regulatory Agency (DORA), Previous years transcripts with an accredited Apprenticeship Program, if applicable - Accredited program, Valid Colorado Driver's License - Colorado Department of Revenue
  • Ability to perform job duties with direct supervision.
  • Ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical equipment
  • Knowledge of low and high voltage circuitry.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Maintain all requirements for the Apprenticeship Program
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Collaborative team player
  • Maintains a generally positive attitude.
  • Observes all District policies and procedures

Responsibilities
