About The Position

The Engineer position is responsible for multiple aspects of the review process within the Water, Sewer, and Stormwater Plan Review Section in the Development Division of Planning and Development. Primary responsibilities include review of development plans for compliance with applicable regulations and adherence to mandated guidelines pertaining specifically to water, sewer, and stormwater; communicate plan review matters with design professionals and internal staff; provide technical assistance to other County staff, outside contractors, and the general public regarding engineering issues; review of various reports, zoning conditions, recorded plats, GIS maps, and easements related to development projects; research, investigation, and evaluation of complaints and inquiries received by the public or management regarding water, sewer, or stormwater issues; maintain records associated with plan review; perform other duties of a similar nature or level. The Engineer II and III positions will perform the above listed responsibilities and will perform multiple aspects of the review process requiring more experience and skill in evaluating engineering plans and maps as well as supporting larger, more complex projects. The Engineer III position will perform the above listed responsibilities, will serve as lead worker, may supervise staff, may serve as back-up to the manager as needed, and will perform other duties of a similar nature.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Valid Driver's License from State of Residency

Nice To Haves

  • One year of related experience (for Engineer II)
  • Two years of progressively responsible engineering experience (for Engineer III)

Responsibilities

  • Review of development plans for compliance with applicable regulations and adherence to mandated guidelines pertaining specifically to water, sewer, and stormwater.

  • Communicates plan review matters with design professionals and internal staff.
  • Reviews various reports, zoning conditions, recorded plats, GIS maps, and easements related to development projects.
  • Researches, investigates, and evaluates complaints and inquiries received by the public or management regarding water, sewer, and stormwater issues.
  • May serve as a lead to lower-level staff to include assigning and monitoring work and providing direction.
  • Engineer III will serve as a lead worker and may supervise staff and serve as back-up to the manager.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
