About The Position

This position is located in District 07 of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), assigned to Unit 720, Bridge Maintenance Electrical Crew, and reports directly to the Electrician Specialist Foreman. The incumbent performs electrical maintenance and repairs on movable and stationary bridges, ferry vessels, buildings, generators, rest areas, pumping stations, and other DOTD assets as assigned.

The role troubleshoots electrical problems, installs equipment for single- and three-phase systems, and repairs electrical and related mechanical and hydraulic systems. It also performs movable bridge operation and requires availability for 24-hour call-outs. The appointment may be probational or promotional. The posting may fill multiple positions.

Requirements

• Two years of experience or training in the electrical trade.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot electrical problems and perform district-wide electrical maintenance on movable and stationary bridges, ferry vessels, buildings, generators, a rest area, pumping stations, and other Department assets as assigned.
• Install electrical equipment for single- and three-phase systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair circuits, motors, emergency generators, hydraulic systems, control valves, locks, wedges, barriers, and traffic gauges on movable bridges and ferries.
• Troubleshoot and repair marine distribution cables, marine vessel electrical power plant systems and generators, limit switches, plunger switches, and electrical drive motors, including 480-volt circuits.
• Operate movable bridges.
• Accept 24-hour call-outs.
