About The Position

The Electrician Foreman supervises employees directly, including selection, training, performance appraisal, and work allocation. This role assists with troubleshooting service interruptions and electrical outages, ensuring safety procedures are observed and conducting Job Hazard Analyses. The Foreman investigates customer complaints regarding electrical problems, connects/disconnects utility services, and coordinates customer service functions with other departments. They correspond with suppliers for quotations and maintain contact with vendors regarding purchase orders. Additionally, they establish work schedules and priorities, are familiar with controls in water and wastewater plants and gas controls, and assist in maintaining water well controls. The role involves communicating customer service policies, promoting employee morale, installing/maintaining/repairing underground cables and transformers, and instructing/training apprentices. The Foreman ensures equipment is in top operating condition, conducts safety training, prepares reports, estimates future personnel and equipment needs, and directs fleet operations. Other duties as assigned are also part of this role.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate
  • Vocational/Specialized Training in Electrician Field
  • Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship from a State or Federally Registered Electrician Program
  • 7 - 10 years' experience in Electrician Field
  • 2 years Supervisory experience required
  • Proficient in Microsoft (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, MS Projects, Project Management and Outlook)
  • Valid Driver's License (subject to motor vehicle review)

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates customer service functions with other departments.
  • Corresponds with suppliers for quotations; maintains contact with vendors regarding current status of purchase orders.
  • Establishes work schedules and priorities to ensure that work flow is controlled.
  • Is familiar with controls in district's water and wastewater plants and gas controls.
  • Assists in maintaining water well controls, troubleshooting, and correcting problems.
  • Communicates and interprets customer service policies and procedures.
  • Initiates and coordinates various activities designed to promote and maintain a high level of employee moral.
  • Installs, maintains and repairs underground cables and transformers
  • Instructs and trains apprentices in work procedures applicable to each apprentice level.
  • Ensures that necessary repairs are made to maintain equipment in top operating condition.
  • Conducts safety training sessions.
  • Prepares reports and records on appropriate forms.
  • Estimates, for budget purposes, the future personnel and equipment needs of the department or section.
  • Directs and coordinates fleet operations and scheduling to ensure the availability of vehicles and equipment when needed.
