About The Position

The Electrical Technician works independently to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical equipment and ensure that equipment is in safe working condition in the packaging and processing areas of a vegetable processing facility. The position maintains electrical systems from low voltage to 4160 volts, installs plant electrical equipment as needed, and supports other maintenance personnel during major plant breakdowns. The technician also assists the Instrumentation/PLC Technician.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
3+ years of related experience and/or training.
2+ years of experience in a processing environment.
Good knowledge of computer systems.
Familiarity with automated control systems and ability to read, understand, and maintain electrical drawings and manuals.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to read and write in English.
Ability to work any shift, weekends, and overtime if required.
Ability to balance multiple tasks, be flexible, and work well under pressure.
Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision and exercise good judgment.

Responsibilities

Maintain electrical systems from low voltages to 4160 volts.
Repair or replace electrical devices, including breaker panels, motor starters, heaters, fuses, lights, AC drives, motors, and electrical switches, in accordance with state and federal codes and company policies and procedures.
Maintain and troubleshoot VFDs, soft starts, lighting, and control circuits.
Install plant equipment, run conduits, pull wire, and install switches and breaker panels as needed to supply power to plant electrical apparatus.
Use electrical meters, including amp clamps, volt meters, analog meters, and meggers.
Assist other maintenance personnel during a major plant breakdown.
Assist the Instrumentation/PLC Technician.
Perform other duties as assigned.
