The electrical supervisor is responsible for all electrical installation activities on site. He is responsible for planning, coordinating and leading the installation of the electrical scope of project on site. He will report to the Construction Manager and lead a team of supervisors and electricians. The electrical scope of a hydro-electric power project will include turbine and generator (T&G) instrumentation, protections & controls and distribution equipment.

Requirements

  • Experience on Canadian construction unionized sites, medium to large size, holding leadership roles within electrical or general contractor performing industrial electrical installation
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years experience in similar role
  • Proven leadership ability within a team context
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of electrical equipment
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of Canadian electrical code CSA C22.1
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, team work skills and autonomy
  • Ability to multitask and shift between many different projects and initiatives with tight deadlines
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and professional Internet browsing
  • Legal status to work in Canada is required

Responsibilities

  • Review and understand the design and the installation scope of work
  • Prepare the electrical installation plan, including finalizing man-hours estimate, validating/preparing quantities for specified materials, preparing the schedule for the electrical installation scope, and reviewing/adjusting the budget estimate
  • Support preparation of installation manuals and other installation related documents
  • Prepare and optimize electrical site staff requirements (supervision and labour)
  • Prepare tooling lists and coordinate procurement
  • Prepare purchase specifications and negotiate with subcontractors in coordination with Installation Coordinator and Procurement
  • Plan and organize temporary/construction power mobilization
  • Participate in Risk assessments
  • Responsible for safe and cost-effective execution of electrical installation works in accordance with the project schedule and quality specifications
  • Lead the electrical supervisors on site
  • Prepare estimates for site change orders
  • Lead schedule updates, short-term planning and progress reports for the electrical scope
  • Analyze electrical installation costs and progress, including the analysis of deviations
  • Coordinate and optimize site staffing requirements (supervision and labor)
  • Plan and organize temporary power supply for the site
  • Follow up with engineering on change requests and non-compliance issues
