Electrical Monitoring Engineer - Fleet Performance Management Team

GE VernovaGreenville, SC
$72,000 - $108,000Onsite

About The Position

GE Vernova is a global energy company focused on electrifying and decarbonizing the world. Their Onshore Wind business manages a large fleet of wind turbines. The Fleet Performance Management (FPM) team monitors the health and performance of these turbines using data and diagnostics to identify issues early, improve reliability, and maximize asset value. FPM operates at the intersection of engineering, data, and field operations, collaborating with various engineering and services teams to translate fleet data into actionable insights. The Electrical Monitoring Engineer role is an entry-level position focused on analyzing and diagnosing electrical components and systems within the onshore wind turbine fleet. This role is suitable for recent graduates with a background in electrical engineering who are also proficient with data and code. The engineer will learn to interpret electrical system data, detect abnormal performance, and contribute to the fleet's reliability, while developing technical expertise in electrical systems and data analysis/programming skills on the job. The role involves diagnosing electrical faults and component degradation, and also building and interacting with the tools and analytics necessary for this diagnostic work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field (completed or in progress, with anticipated graduation date).
  • Strong foundational knowledge of electrical systems and engineering principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work on-site in Greenville, SC.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to programming or data analysis, gained through coursework, internships, co-ops, personal projects, clubs, competitions, or a minor/secondary area of study (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, or similar).
  • Comfort with, or eagerness to learn, programming and scripting languages such as Python, SQL, or MATLAB.
  • Interest in and comfort with using AI-assisted tools to support coding, data analysis, and technical problem-solving.
  • Prior internship, co-op, or project experience in the wind, power generation, or renewable energy industry.
  • Experience working with real-world datasets, including cleaning, analyzing, or visualizing data.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, sensor data, or industrial/operational data environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in team environments, including group projects, capstones, or extracurricular technical clubs.
  • Genuine interest in renewable energy and a career combining electrical engineering with data-driven problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze operational data, SCADA signals, alarms, and events to identify abnormal electrical performance, component degradation, and system anomalies across the fleet.
  • Support diagnostic assessment of electrical faults, power quality issues, and intermittent failures to assist troubleshooting and root cause investigations.
  • Distinguish actionable electrical signals from noise or expected operational variation, and interpret field performance data and service records to assess component health.
  • Support fleet diagnostics and maintenance prioritization through electrical performance analysis.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of electrical monitoring strategies, condition indicators, and detection logic across the installed fleet.
  • Collaborate with Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Services, Fleet Reliability, and Root Cause Analysis teams to support issue resolution and inform engineering improvements.
  • Work with SCADA data, event logs, alarms, and service records, and build/improve scripts, queries, and dashboards to support electrical monitoring.
  • Apply established standards for diagnostic quality and documentation, and clearly communicate technical findings to team members and stakeholders.
  • Build comfort using AI-assisted tools to accelerate coding, data analysis, and problem-solving, and stay open to learning new programming languages and tools as needed.
  • Develop foundational expertise in electrical component behavior, failure modes, and diagnostic techniques, while identifying opportunities to improve monitoring coverage and detection logic.
