About The Position

Kinder Morgan is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to join their team at their Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility. This role is responsible for all activities related to electrical and control integrity, including design, installation, inspection, maintenance, operation, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and adjustment of various control systems. The technician will also perform preventative maintenance on equipment, maintain electrical switchgear and power distribution, conduct analytical testing, and oversee facility grounding systems. Additionally, the role involves installing and repairing security systems, general upkeep of facilities, and ensuring work complies with company standards and regulatory requirements. The position also includes identifying and correcting safety and environmental concerns, completing documentation, overseeing third-party work, demonstrating operational excellence, mentoring employees, and maintaining dependable attendance and performance.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Understand and operate various electronic test instruments
Good record of safe work practices
Working knowledge and/or experience preparing drawings of electrical circuits
Working knowledge and/or experience reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical blueprints and diagrams
Working knowledge and/or experience applying and interpreting results from common electrical measurement instruments (voltmeter, ammeter, ohmmeter, oscilloscope, etc.)
Knowledge of National Electric Codes
Ability to estimate installation, operating and maintenance expenses associated with electrical and control systems
Ability to complete work assignments with minimal supervision in an acceptable time frame
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record satisfactory to the Company and its insurers
May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties
Basic computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, various operation systems and other company software)
Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals)
Good verbal and written communications skills
Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details and follow work rules

Responsibilities

Design, install, inspect, maintain, operate, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and adjust various pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, electronic, and Programmable Logic (PLC) control systems
Perform preventative maintenance checks on pumps, compressors, drivers, and auxiliary equipment
Perform Inspection and Maintenance (I & M) checks on control systems
Maintain electrical switch gear and power distribution
Perform advanced engine/compressor/pump analytical testing. Lead efforts to develop and implement changes as a result of the analytical testing
Evaluation/development/implementation/maintenance of facility grounding systems
Install, analyze and repair security/intrusion systems
Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed
Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements
Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns
Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork
Oversee the construction, maintenance and/or work activities performed by 3rd parties
Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence
Mentor fellow employees when the opportunity presents itself
Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and high level of performance
Other duties as assigned
