About The Position

This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, commissioning, and maintaining all plant electrical and instrumentation systems. The technician will follow and role model site safety, quality SOPs, and Site Standards. They will operate instrument and electrical tools and equipment to troubleshoot, fabricate, replace, and repair industrial parts and equipment. This includes using tools like VOM, DLRO, megger, hi-pot, simulators, and AMS software to maintain reliability and cost goals. The position also involves improving equipment and system reliability and cost-effectiveness through ownership, functioning as a subject matter expert for specific technologies or equipment, and supporting disaster recovery planning, spare parts inventory, and obsolescence planning. The technician will operate mobile equipment as required, troubleshoot instrument, electrical, and mechanical problems, and perform root cause analysis in partnership with operations and engineering. They will implement counter-measures and systemic improvements, ensure machinery and equipment operation through preventive maintenance, interpret technical drawings, and maintain/develop preventive and predictive maintenance standards. Testing, calibrating, and troubleshooting digital and pneumatic controls and plant instruments are key duties. The role requires documenting work in the maintenance-computerized database (Upkeep), improving site and equipment technical databases, and delivering red-lined drawings. Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area is essential, as is attending required training and potentially training others. The technician must understand and follow all organizational policies, procedures, and rules, ensuring compliance with laws and practices related to equal employment, safety, and environmental protection. The role may require working in excess of eight hours per day or forty hours per week on any shift, traveling as needed, and providing off-shift call-in and planned shift coverage. Contributions to team effort are expected, and personnel may be required to perform duties outside their normal responsibilities. This position is safety-sensitive.

Requirements

Five (5) or more years’ experience as an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician
PLC experience
3 phase motor control experience
Mechanical experience, specifically, knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
Knowledge of pressure, flow, level, and temperature instrumentation.
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Strong problem resolution skills
The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
The ability to respond quickly.
Must be able to perform duties in a safe manner.
Must be able to work in adverse working conditions such as heat, wet, cold, noise, etc.
Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

Operates instrument, electrical tools, and equipment as required to troubleshoot, fabricate, replace and/or repair industrial parts and equipment per demonstrated skill level competency.
Improves equipment and system reliability and cost effectiveness through demonstrated equipment, component, and system ownership.
Functions as the owner of a technology and/or equipment subject matter expert through the personal development of in-depth technical skills to support PM and troubleshooting of complex issues.
Operates mobile equipment as required.
Troubleshoots instrument/s, electrical and mechanical problems, and performs root cause analysis in partnership with operations and Engineering to solve routine and non-routine problems.
Implements proven counter measures and systemic improvements to eliminate recurring problems.
Ensures operation of machinery and equipment by developing and completing preventive maintenance requirements, interpreting technical drawings or diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer’s instruction, engineering specifications and plant equipment component standards.
Tests, calibrates, and troubleshoots digital and pneumatic controls and plant instruments such as flow pressure, temperature, mass, moisture, and density.
Documents work performed in the maintenance-computerized database (Upkeep) to build equipment history by creating, retrieving, and closing work orders.
Improves site and equipment technical database through standards and site technical documentation improvements.
Delivers red-lined drawings (as built) to appropriate person when discrepancies are identified between a drawing and actual plant conditions.
Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area by complying with documentation, procedural and applicable regulatory requirements.
Attends and participates in required training, trains others in areas of proficiency or expertise.
Understands and follows all organizational policies, procedures, and rules, ensuring that all laws are obeyed, and equal employment, safety and environmental protection are practiced.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
All personnel may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time, as needed.
