Electrical Infrastructure Engineer / Technical Specialist

Partner Engineering & Science, Inc.•Robinson Township, PA
•$70,000 - $100,000

About The Position

PARTNER is seeking an Electrical Infrastructure Engineer / Technical Specialist to conduct electrical infrastructure assessments, evaluate utility power availability and facility capacity, and prepare client-ready technical reports supporting data center and mission-critical site evaluations. The role focuses primarily on technical assessment and due diligence rather than traditional electrical engineering design. Candidates should have practical knowledge of medium- and low-voltage electrical systems, be able to interpret electrical drawings and identify capacity or equipment limitations, and conduct field assessments with minimal supervision. Data center experience is preferred but not required for candidates with strong electrical power systems and facility assessment backgrounds. The position includes assessing commercial, industrial, and mission-critical facilities; reviewing utility infrastructure and service capacity; evaluating electrical readiness and equipment suitability for data center and other high-demand operations; and documenting findings, deficiencies, risks, and recommendations. It also involves coordinating with utilities, clients, project managers, senior engineers, and multidisciplinary teams. Travel is approximately 30–40%, may periodically exceed 40%, and may include overnight travel. Candidates must be comfortable in active commercial and industrial environments and follow applicable site safety requirements. PARTNER provides engineering, environmental, energy consulting, and design services across the Americas, Europe, and beyond. The company has more than 1,600 professionals in over 40 offices. The stated salary range is $70,000–$100,000, with possible eligibility for a discretionary incentive bonus. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, vacation and sick time, and a 401(k) plan with company match.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience with electrical power distribution systems, utility infrastructure, industrial electrical systems, or facility electrical assessments.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently conduct facility assessments, technical site inspections, or similar evaluations.
  • Experience preparing professional technical reports documenting existing conditions, findings, deficiencies, and recommendations.
  • Practical knowledge of medium- and low-voltage electrical equipment and power distribution systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, equipment drawings, electrical schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Understanding of electrical power distribution from utility service through facility infrastructure.
  • General understanding of utility service capacity, power allocations, facility demand, and electrical infrastructure limitations.
  • Working knowledge of applicable NEC requirements and familiarity with relevant IEEE standards.
  • Strong analytical, technical writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to organize and complete site assessment and reporting assignments within established project schedules.
  • Comfort working in active commercial and industrial environments and following applicable site safety requirements.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30–40%, with travel periodically exceeding 40% and overnight travel potentially required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electrical infrastructure due diligence, facility condition assessments, or site suitability evaluations.
  • Experience with commercial, industrial, data center, utility, or other mission-critical facilities.
  • Familiarity with UPS systems, generators, ATS equipment, redundant power configurations, data center power requirements, and cooling infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with power system studies such as load flow, short-circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash analysis.
  • Exposure to ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower.
  • Experience coordinating with electric utilities regarding service capacity, power availability, or interconnection requirements.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Data center experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct electrical infrastructure assessments of commercial, industrial, and mission-critical facilities.

  • Review utility service arrangements, distribution infrastructure, service voltages, existing demand, and available electrical capacity.
  • Assess utility power availability and the feasibility of serving proposed data center or other high-demand loads.
  • Review utility correspondence, capacity information, service documentation, and preliminary interconnection requirements.
  • Coordinate with utility representatives, engineering teams, clients, and other stakeholders to obtain and evaluate electrical infrastructure information.
  • Conduct technical due diligence and site suitability assessments for existing facilities and prospective data center locations.
  • Evaluate electrical infrastructure readiness, including available power, distribution capacity, equipment suitability, redundancy, and future capacity.
  • Evaluate mission-critical equipment such as UPS systems, standby generators, automatic transfer switches, and redundant electrical distribution systems.
  • Apply a working understanding of IT loads, critical power distribution, cooling-related electrical loads, and future capacity requirements.
  • Identify infrastructure improvements or upgrades required to support proposed operations.
  • Prepare professional, client-ready electrical infrastructure assessment reports.
