About The Position

Merrick & Company is seeking a college or graduate school Electrical Engineering student for a paid summer internship for Summer 2027 at our Greenwood Village, CO, Tulsa, OK, or Richmond, VA office. Merrick’s Summer Internship Program offers meaningful, hands-on experience for students. Designed as a shorter-term, exploratory experience, internships allow students to apply what they’re learning in school while gaining exposure to real projects, professional collaboration, and day-to-day life at an employee-owned company. The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2027.

Requirements

  • Must have graduation date after August 2027 to be eligible.
  • Must be pursuing an engineering degree in Electrical Engineering with electrical emphasis from an A.B.E.T. accredited university.
  • Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in grad school.
  • Knowledge of facility electrical and lighting design and/or power system design.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without Sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship in Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of Revit
  • Knowledge of Bluebeam Revu
  • Knowledge of power distribution design software (SKM PowerTools, Easy Power, ETAP)
  • Local Candidates preferred

Responsibilities

  • Gain technical experience in the field of electrical engineering.
  • Be exposed to a variety of electrical engineering experiences and tasks including, but not limited to, industrial & facility electrical power, lighting, grounding, fire detection, lightning protection, instrumentation & controls, communication systems, and low to medium voltage power systems.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines.
  • Interface with clients and contractors.
  • Follow schedules and budget commitments.
  • Work independently.
  • Possess good written and oral communication skills.
  • Problem solve.
