About The Position

This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities. IMEG is hiring an Electrical Engineering Intern in Cincinnati, OH, to work closely with a team of experienced engineers and consultants on engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings. This paid summer internship includes hands-on project support with an HVAC focus area. Over 10-12 weeks, you will assist with design, documentation, coordination, and job site observations while working within project budgets and collaborating across disciplines to support project goals and client expectations. You will contribute to industrial and manufacturing work with a focus on building systems, advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

Requirements

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
  • Strong interest in design consulting
  • Previous exposure to CAD and/or BIM software
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with design portions of projects related to electrical systems according to code and IMEG standards
  • Assist with engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings
  • Assist with researching commercially available equipment and resources
  • Assist with maintaining good client relations, project design notebooks, and documentation for permanent record files
  • Assist with coordinating design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers
  • Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions promptly while monitoring project design progress
  • Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check
  • Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and all other services as required by the contract services agreement
  • Work within the project's monetary budget and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations
