Electrical Engineer 3

Lam Research•Tualatin, OR

About The Position

The Electrical Engineer will work in Lam Research’s Global Products Group (GPG), within the Wet Equipment Technology Systems (WETs) organization, designing and delivering wet processing tools for advanced semiconductor manufacturing. The role contributes to the development of next-generation semiconductor wet deposition tools by designing, developing, and analyzing electrical solutions and systems, conducting experimental tests, and evaluating results to produce reliable solutions. The position includes developing electrical and electro-mechanical system specifications, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and performing hands-on testing and validation. The engineer also communicates design intent and results through reports and technical presentations and serves as a resource and mentor to junior colleagues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and 5+ years of experience; or a master’s degree and 3+ years of experience; or equivalent work experience.
  • Hands-on experience in analog and digital electronic circuit design, signal and controls theory, development, electrical board design, troubleshooting, and validation.
  • Solid understanding of AC/DC power distribution systems.
  • In-depth system-level understanding of electrical architecture, system integration, and applications.
  • Excellent working knowledge of printed circuit board (PCB) and low-voltage circuit design for power and control applications.
  • Expertise applying power and controls technologies to systems automation.
  • Knowledge of CAD tools for circuit design and simulation, such as PCAD, ORCAD, ZUKEN, AutoCAD, Spice, ADS, or HFSS.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to define functional requirements and execute work in a dynamic team environment.
  • Familiarity with design for serviceability, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • High proficiency troubleshooting systems using tools such as network sniffers, protocol analyzers, and tool logs.
  • Experience troubleshooting with problem-solving techniques such as 5-why, 8D, and fishbone analysis.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including technical presentations.
  • Experience in the semiconductor industry or a related industry such as industrial, automotive, or military.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop complex electrical systems, subsystems, and solutions using engineering methods.
  • Contribute to research and development by collecting and analyzing data to improve electrical system designs.
  • Develop functional specifications for electrical and electro-mechanical systems and power distribution components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering design teams to design and modify custom and OEM system components.
  • Perform hands-on testing and validation using laboratory equipment to characterize electrical and electro-mechanical system performance.
