About The Position

The Entry-Level 12V Electrical Engineer supports the design, testing, and documentation of low-voltage electrical systems for automotive and industrial applications. The role contributes to product development through schematic design, circuit analysis, testing, prototype development, and technical documentation, while supporting compliance with applicable electrical and safety standards. The position works with engineering, manufacturing, and production teams to integrate electrical systems into final products and participates in design reviews under the guidance of senior engineering staff. Work takes place in a manufacturing and production environment, including significant time on the production floor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET) or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience in electrical engineering or 12V systems.
  • Fundamental knowledge of DC circuits and low-voltage electrical systems.
  • Basic understanding of automotive or industrial electrical systems and architectures.
  • Familiarity with electrical safety standards and engineering best practices.
  • Proficiency with CAD-based electrical design tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent.
  • Three or more years of experience in electrical engineering, 12V systems, or commercial/first responder 12V upfit applications.
  • Ability to perform circuit calculations and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience with electrical design and documentation software tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills appropriate for an entry-level engineering role.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based engineering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness layouts using CAD-based electrical design tools.
  • Support product design by integrating electrical requirements with mechanical assemblies and system constraints.
  • Assist with testing, validation, and debugging of 12V DC components, including motors, sensors, batteries, and actuators.
  • Troubleshoot prototypes and test units to identify wiring, component, or design issues, escalating complex problems as needed.
  • Perform basic circuit analysis, including load calculations, voltage drop analysis, and circuit protection assessments.
  • Support systems using common automotive communication protocols and architectures.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including bills of materials, specifications, test reports, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Ensure documentation accuracy and alignment with internal standards and manufacturing requirements.
  • Support adherence to electrical safety standards and internal engineering guidelines.
  • Follow established engineering processes, quality requirements, and documentation controls.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and production teams to support integration of electrical systems into final products.
