About The Position

Poll Worker assist’s the Clerk Recorder during the voting season. The class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skill. Performs election-related tasks and specific duties. Attend poll worker training; Provides extended hours of service for voter registration and early voting during Primary, General, and special elections; Assist Same Day Registers (SDR); provides ballots to SDR’s; Maintains and ensures security of all election equipment; Set up and closes polling locations, Ensure no one is campaigning within 100’ of the polling location; Ensure the voting area is secure and voters feel comfortable that their vote will remain private; Processes voters as they arrive to vote, including signature verification; Determine if the voter can vote by machine or paper; and Secure all ballots, Transports election equipment and ballots to the Counting Board.

Requirements

  • Be a registered voter in Nevada.
  • Be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Be able to sit or stand for long periods of time, bend and have manual/physical dexterity.
  • Be able to get transportation to the Eureka County Court house for training and to the polling place.
  • Remain nonpartisan while working at the polls.
  • Have patience and the ability to be courteous and respectful with the public and coworkers.
  • Strength, dexterity, and coordination to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods.
  • Strength and stamina to bend, stoop, sit, and stand for long periods of time.
  • Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper.
  • Occasional lifting of files, stacks of paper or reports, references, and other materials.
  • Some reaching for items above and below desk level.
  • Some reaching, bending, squatting, and stooping to access files and records is necessary.
  • Light lifting (up to 35 pounds) is occasionally required.
  • Able to transport and maneuver signage to outside locations.
