Under supervision of the Elections Administrator, the Elections Technology Specialist performs complex and technical duties related to overseeing the County’s voting equipment. This includes creating each election’s ballot using ballot origination software, programming and testing the County’s voting equipment with each election’s ballot, processing and scanning returned mail-in ballots with the Ballot Board, and maintaining the County’s voting equipment after each election. The role also involves maintaining the Election website and social media accounts, ensuring ADA compliance, and fulfilling open records requests pertaining to election records. Additionally, the specialist operates a delivery truck to transport election equipment, trains election workers, compiles state-required reports, and provides technical guidance to other Elections staff. The position requires maintaining voting equipment and systems in accordance with state guidelines, coordinating software and hardware updates, and performing backup procedures for programs and files. Planning and assigning voting machines to polling places, tracking serial numbers, and maintaining equipment inventory records are also key responsibilities. The specialist will write and maintain logs of voting equipment issues and attend vendor training to enhance knowledge of election equipment.
