About The Position

The OTSU Elections Committee is a special committee of the Board of the Ontario Tech Student Union (OTSU). This committee works with the OTSU Executive Team, Board of Directors, and full-time staff to oversee the elections process, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and fairness. We are hiring for three (3) at-large student representative positions.

Requirements

• Must be a full-time student (enrolled in 3 or more courses) at Ontario Tech University.
• Must be in good academic standing (with a cumulative GPA above 2.0) at Ontario Tech University.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience serving on committees.
• Previous experience or knowledge of elections (student, government, etc.).
• Experience working with elected officials.

Responsibilities

• Hear any appeal of a decision that a Chief Returning Officer (CRO) makes.
• Have voting rights to overrule a decision or interpretation made by the CRO.
• Meet regularly to discuss the status of the elections.
• Familiarize themselves with the Bylaws, Elections Policy and Procedure.
• Make recommendations to the CRO on all matters, including Bylaw amendments.
• Refer to the Terms of Reference for additional duties and responsibilities of committee members.
