About The Position

The San Mateo County Registration & Elections Division is seeking seasonal Election Worker – Signature Verification Office Assistants to assist in the upcoming November 3, 2026, Statewide General Election. This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in the election process! The Elections Division is an exciting, fast-paced environment, especially as elections approach. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a group of dynamic, well-organized, and highly efficient individuals committed to the democratic process. We are currently seeking dedicated, enthusiastic and hard-working individuals for temporary, full-time positions to be hired into our Signature Verification Unit.

Requirements

Minimum of one year of general clerical, office assistant, phone services, or computer experience.
Ability to stay on task
Accurately review large quantities of signatures
Maintain records and logs of voter outreach
Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
Positive attitude and good leadership are also integral to assist other team members and ensure day-to-day operations run smoothly.
Must be available for the entire employment period until the completion of their assignment.

Nice To Haves

Experience in at least one election cycle in Vote by Mail is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Clerical Support: Data entry
Preparing, mailing, and receiving form letters
Outreach to challenged voters via phone and email
Signature Verification: Reviewing and comparing signatures on Vote by Mail ballots we receive
Following established procedures and guidelines for Signature Verification
Identifying discrepancies in signatures and submitting them for further review
Coordinating with team members to ensure timely and accurate verification of signatures
