About The Position

Extra-Help employees are not entitled to County benefits and are limited to a maximum of 25 hours per week. Bilingual (English/Spanish) and a California Driver's License may be required for certain positions. Experience working with seniors and telephone skills are highly desirable. Duties may include locating and identifying citizens in need of community services, researching available community resources, maintaining current knowledge of programs, providing assistance within the scope of information concerning appropriate services and eligibility requirements, assisting in publicizing various services, performing detailed assessments of program eligibility, and assisting in the completion of various program applications and forms. Selected applicants must be able to pass a fingerprint and background check.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from high school.
  • One (1) year clerical experience or experience involving public contact is required.
  • Selected applicant must be able to pass fingerprint and background check.
  • Communicate effectively with others in person, over the telephone, and in writing.
  • Frequent operation of personal computer and other modern office equipment.
  • Respond appropriately to situations.
  • Locates and identifies citizens in need of community resources.
  • Identifies and researches available community resources.
  • Perform simple clerical work.
  • Knowledge of governmental programs relating to senior citizens and other community residents.
  • Knowledge of Community Resources.
  • Knowledge of problems, needs and attitudes of senior citizens and other community residents.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior citizens and other community residents.
  • Ability to conduct individual and group presentations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted during the course of work.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English.
