ELA Content Product Manager

Kiddom
•$70,000 - $90,000

About The Position

Kiddom is transforming K–12 education by bringing high-quality curriculum, instructional tools, and student analytics together in one coherent system. Its Learning Intelligence Technology (LIT) gives educators infrastructure to plan, teach, assess, and respond to student needs, helping schools and districts deliver more equitable, effective, and adaptive learning experiences. The ELA Content Manager owns the quality of Kiddom's ELA programs, based on an OER Language Arts curriculum, across digital products, lesson presentations, and print. The role adapts and extends curriculum for state editions and adoptions, develops multilingual learner supports, maintains accurate and current courses, and directs contractors and vendors. It also defines AI-assisted workflows that help a small team produce and review high-quality ELA content efficiently while maintaining quality. The role partners closely with Product, Design, and Engineering and works directly with curriculum partners. It reports to the Head of Curriculum Experience.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of K–12 ELA classroom teaching experience.
  • At least 3 years of ELA instructional design or curriculum development experience, including experience with digital products or technology integration.
  • Experience writing K–8 ELA lessons, tasks, teacher notes, and supplemental materials, including foundational skills and the science of reading.
  • Experience with EL Education or another core ELA curriculum, such as Amplify ELA or Into Reading.
  • Understanding of student-centered, text-based, knowledge-building ELA instruction and explicit, systematic instruction.
  • Product-forward mindset, comfort with ambiguity, bias toward shipping and iterating, and ability to connect content decisions to user outcomes.
  • Hands-on fluency with AI tools in daily content work and experience building repeatable workflows, not just writing prompts.
  • Comfort working directly in content systems, including bulk edits, file and link management, spreadsheets, and simple scripts.
  • Strong project management skills, including managing several state editions at once, scoping contractor work, and keeping documentation current.
  • Strong empathy for educators and passion for improving education equitably.
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple projects.
  • Creative problem-solving and strong written communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building advanced, agentic AI workflows for content development, such as automating multi-step drafting, alignment, and QA across large sets of lessons, or working comfortably in command-line and agent-based environments.
  • Experience developing curriculum for California, including working knowledge of California ELA/ELD standards, the framework, and the instructional materials adoption process.
  • Experience creating integrated and designated ELD supports.
  • Experience preparing materials for state adoption reviews, EdReports, or RFPs.
  • Experience with print production for instructional materials, such as book structure, proofs, or work with print vendors.
  • Experience running scripts such as Google Apps Script or Python for content operations.
  • Experience managing contractors or leading projects at professional scale.

Responsibilities

  • Adapt ELA content for state editions and adoptions, including standards extraction and crosswalks, alignment guides, content modifications, and evidence for state reviewers, EdReports, and RFPs.
  • Own instructional integrity across digital programs, lesson presentations, and print, including book maps, tables of contents, teacher and student book structure, and vendor proof reviews.
  • Create integrated and designated ELD supports at Emerging, Expanding, and Bridging proficiency levels, aligned to California ELD Standards and other state frameworks, as well as supports for students with diverse needs.
  • Maintain accurate live courses by triaging customer support tickets, fixing broken links and media, running course QA with Kiddom's QA tools, and requesting republishes.
  • Serve as the day-to-day content contact with the curriculum partner: log errata and adoption queries, track file deliveries, and coordinate content changes requiring partner approval.
  • Scope, brief, assign, and review contractor and vendor work; estimate hours and track progress against budget.
  • Define, prototype, and run AI-assisted workflows—including Claude skills, scripts, and multi-step pipelines—for standards extraction and crosswalks, ELD support generation, slide production, source-file content extraction, and QA triage, with human review where accuracy matters most.
  • Author and edit ELA lessons, interactive question types, and lesson presentations in the Kiddom platform, and set protocols for instructional and visual design of presentations.
  • Author and edit supplemental resources aligned to existing curriculum, including reading, writing, language, and foundational skills supports.
  • Approach work as a product owner by defining teacher and student problems, setting goals for content features, prototyping solutions, and using usage data and educator feedback to prioritize work.
  • Join customer calls with Product Managers and bring classroom insight into product decisions.
  • Manage projects in Jira, maintain current project briefs and timelines, and regularly report progress, risks, and changes.
  • Troubleshoot problems outside usual processes and take on other tasks needed to meet project deadlines.
