About The Position

The EKG position at HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast is responsible for interpreting rhythms and arrhythmias, reporting changes in heart rate or rhythm to appropriate nursing staff, and maintaining telemetry supplies and equipment. The role also involves documenting patient condition in computerized systems, performing duties with awareness of age-specific factors, orienting and mentoring new staff members, and following Standard Precautions and personal protective equipment requirements.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
Must be able to lift and/or carry 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Successful completion of an EKG course.
One year of experience in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

Interpret rhythms and arrhythmias.
Report changes in heart rate or rhythm to appropriate nursing staff.
Maintain telemetry supplies and equipment.
Record patient condition using computerized documentation systems.
Perform duties with full understanding of related age-specific factors.
Orient and mentor new staff members.
Follow Standard Precautions and use personal protective equipment as required.
