About The Position

The EKG Technician II administers electrocardiograms, applies Holter monitors, and performs related office and clerical duties. The role supports testing for both inpatients and outpatients, assists with stress and nuclear testing, prepares reports for cardiologist interpretation, and maintains testing equipment. The technician also schedules cardiology testing, enters medical data for billing, transports patients, and helps train new staff members.

Requirements

• Vocational or technical training.
• A minimum of six months of job-related experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrocardiograms daily for emergency and routine inpatient and outpatient care.
• Apply Holter monitors and explain their use to patients.
• Edit EKG reports and transcribe Holter and echocardiogram reports.
• Assist RNs with stress and nuclear testing.
• Serve as a preceptor in training new staff members.
• Schedule cardiology testing for inpatients and outpatients.
• Input medical data into the computer for billing purposes.
• Generate and prepare unedited EKG reports daily for interpretation by a cardiologist.
• Maintain and clean equipment and prepare it for the next shift.
• Transport patients to and from rooms for testing.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
