About The Position

The EKG Technician performs regular EKGs, applies ambulatory monitors, and completes office duties related to examinations and department operations. The technician treats patients, families, visitors, and colleagues with respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy, regardless of cultural background. The role involves taking EKG equipment to patients’ rooms, explaining procedures, assisting patients as needed, and evaluating each procedure to ensure accurate, high-quality examinations. The technician also receives computerized procedure requests, retrieves prior records for comparative interpretation, enters required examination information into the computer, tests equipment daily, reports defects to the Cardiology Manager, supports quality assurance activities, and participates in departmental training.

Requirements

High school graduate.
Six months of EKG training.
Complete knowledge of EKG department operations.

Responsibilities

Take EKG equipment to patients’ rooms, explain procedures, and assist patients as needed.
Perform examinations as outlined in Compliance 360 and evaluate procedures for accuracy and quality.
Apply ambulatory monitors.
Receive computerized requests for procedures.
Retrieve prior records to support comparative interpretation.
Enter all required examination information into the computer.
Test equipment daily and report defects to the Cardiology Manager.
Assist with quality assurance activities as directed by the manager.
Participate in the department’s training program.
Complete related office duties and other duties as assigned.
