About The Position

Responsible for managing activities related to environmental, health, and safety control. This is an on-site, part-time role requiring 20 hours per week. The company is committed to bringing safety, quality, and customer focus to the business of advanced ceramics manufacturing and aims to make the world measurably better.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 3-5 years related work experience or 10 years related work experience.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills including ability to listen attentively and to communicate information clearly and effectively.
  • Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds.
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple ongoing tasks
  • Proficient in internal and external networking.
  • Proficient in multiple software applications including, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other industry related software (SDS, Injury Management, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Active member of an EHS-related professional association.
  • Certified as an ASP/CSP/CHMM/CIH or an active learner who demonstrates deep knowledge of EHS issues.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all environmental, health, and safety activities required by Federal, State, Provincial, and various local government entities.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and report improvement opportunities to top management.
  • Provide environmental, health, and safety training as required by company policy and regulatory authorities.
  • Manage and improve the facility’s environmental, health, and safety management system, based on ISO 14001 and 45001.
  • Track environmental, health, and safety performance.
  • Plan, implement, and coordinate programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and regulatory risk.
  • Identify and appraise conditions which could produce accidents and liability; proactively develop strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Develop accident-prevention programs for incorporation into operational policies of organization.
  • Coordinate safety activities of unit managers to ensure implementation of safety activities throughout organization.
  • Maintain liaison with outside organizations, such as fire departments, to assure information exchange and mutual assistance.
  • Devise methods to evaluate safety program and conduct or direct evaluations.
  • Evaluate technical and scientific publications concerned with safety management and participate in activities of related professional organizations to update knowledge of safety program developments.
  • Responsible for sharing skills and knowledge; train other employees.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support and help to implement new ideas.
