EHS Compliance and Integration Specialist

Loenbro•Gilbert, AZ
•Onsite

About The Position

The EHS Compliance and Integration Specialist provides independent, Corporate-level assurance that EHS controls are working in the field across Loenbro’s Regions. The Specialist serves in the lead auditor pool for the COMPASS Audit Program, validates Region-led internal evaluations, verifies corrective-action closure and effectiveness, and performs frequent Corporate Compliance audits. The role may facilitate high-level TapRooT® investigations, support EHS integration of current and future acquisitions, monitor state-specific regulations, and help build the internal audit, corrective-action, and documentation practices needed for ISO 45001 compliance. The Specialist reports directly to the EHS Corporate Compliance and Integration Manager and works across Regions as business needs require. The role maintains independence from Regional leadership when validating results, does not lead COMPASS audits of their home Region, and does not lead the same Region’s audit twice consecutively. Regional EHS teams retain responsibility for daily inspections, JHAs, and routine compliance; the Specialist partners with them on evaluations and corrective-action follow-up. The position requires regular travel within the assigned Region and to other Regions for audits, investigations, and integration work. Work takes place at active construction sites, fabrication shops, and client facilities, potentially in extreme weather, at heights, and around energized equipment and heavy machinery. The Specialist must wear required PPE and meet site- and client-specific access requirements, including drug and alcohol testing and site orientations. Physical requirements include walking, climbing ladders and stairs, standing for extended periods, and working on uneven terrain. A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of EHS experience in construction, fabrication, or industrial settings, including auditing or compliance work.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926 and MSHA requirements, with the ability to research state-specific regulations.
  • TapRooT® investigator training, or ability to complete facilitator certification within the stated timeframe of hire; the posting does not specify the timeframe.
  • Strong written reporting skills and ability to present findings to senior management.
  • Ability to work independently and objectively across Regions and deliver difficult findings constructively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and an EHS management system.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel regularly within the assigned Region and to other Regions as needed.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and meet site- and client-specific access requirements, including drug and alcohol testing and site orientations.
  • Ability to walk, climb ladders and stairs, stand for extended periods, and work on uneven terrain.

  • Perform frequent Corporate Compliance audits at project, site, area, and regional levels against regulatory, company, SSSHEP, and client requirements.
  • Inspect lockout/tagout, permits and job forms, work habits, facilities, and construction sites; promptly document inspections and audits and issue high-level reports.
  • Verify that corrective actions are closed and effective within 90 days, including re-tracing Major and Minor NCs; work with Regional EHS and operations to ensure actions are appropriate and completed.
  • Help develop company-wide corrective-action tracking and provide scheduled reports on effectiveness.
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate high-level TapRooT® investigations; support investigation quality, root-cause determination, and periodic assessments of Regional investigations.
  • Use Novara to report safety alerts, incident investigation reports, and root cause analysis; provide investigation support and training to local EHS teams.

  • Support delivery of training and rollouts related to regulatory updates.
  • Support EHS integration of current and future acquisitions across Regions, aligning acquired operations with Loenbro’s EHS management system and policies.
  • Help build and maintain internal audit, corrective-action, and documentation practices for ISO 45001 compliance; maintain supporting audit records and evidence.
  • Be available and responsive to field employees and managers and serve as a constructive resource to operations.
  • Coordinate targeted training when audits identify compliance deficiencies; interface with client safety teams and help local teams align company systems with client requirements.
