About The Position

The EHS & Facility Manager is fully accountable for the EHS function of Manitou in North America, managing the strategy of the department and ensuring regulatory compliance. The position will oversee the safety teams across all sites in the region. Furthermore, this position will be responsible for safety in West Bend as well as oversee the building maintenance of the West Bend facility. This dual-focused role is responsible for driving a robust culture of safety across the organization by developing, implementing, and enforcing programs, policies, and hazard assessments that ensure Manitou and its employees strictly adhere to all federal, state, and internal environmental, health, and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years professional safety management experience in the field, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years of managerial experience in managing teams across multiple locations.
  • Safety experience should include strong understanding OSHA regulations, risk assessment & reduction, developing and administering training programs, accident investigation and resolution
  • Contracts and quoting, vendor management experience.
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety compliance, permitting, incident investigation and reporting protocols
  • Ability to research and analyze difficult information and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Ability to communicate effectively; both verbal and written
  • Strong understanding of federal and state safety and environmental regulations
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate employees in order to improve processes and performance in health and safety
  • Strong computer skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a safety discipline or related field

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and ensure adherence to all federal, state, and internal EHS regulations, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to develop a compliance roadmap and submitting all required reports/permits on time.
  • Lead the internal safety needs and maintain a highly visible daily presence in work areas to promote and reinforce a proactive culture of safe behaviors.
  • Manage the safety teams located at our production sites and our parts distribution center and ensure alignment across all sites. Furthermore, manage the building maintenance team in our West Bend Facility.
  • Establish, schedule, and lead facility EHS audits and inspections. Drive the rigorous execution of all audit action items and track necessary corrective actions through completion.
  • Ensure comprehensive investigations and root-cause analyses for all onsite incidents, while compiling, analyzing, and interpreting statistical data related to exposure factors, accidents, and occupational illnesses.
  • Conduct all mandated regulatory training (OSHA, EPA, etc.) and coordinate comprehensive annual safety training, audits, and emergency response drills.
  • Directly supervise, organize, and mentor a small, dedicated team of facility maintenance personnel to ensure business continuity.
  • Take full ownership of the planning and execution of all facility capital projects. Develop a comprehensive, multi-year Capex roadmap that balances budget guidance and the needs of the facility.
  • Tightly manage the localized facility operational budget (OpEx) to consistently meet financial targets.
  • Serve as the primary technical support for key automated building systems (automation, commercial doors, HVAC), utilizing specialized contractors as needed.
  • Source, manage, and optimize facility service contracts (e.g., waste, janitorial) to maximize cost-efficiency. This includes auditing vendor invoices and managing facility energy tracking data.
  • Oversee all primary company facility assets, directly managing maintenance, lifecycles, and allocations when necessary.
