About The Position

Under the supervision of a physician responsible for interpretation and clinical correlation of results, the EEG Tech provides neurological diagnostic testing and support services to patients and their families. Technical procedures include, but are not limited to, EEG, AEEG, EP, NCV, EMG, AABR, otoacoustic emissions, operative monitoring, and transcranial Doppler studies.

Requirements

• High school graduation with an emphasis on physical and biological science.
• Computer experience required.
• BLS required.

Nice To Haves

• College degree or coursework preferred.
• Experience in neurodiagnostics or a related area preferred.
• Clinical experience in a medical environment preferred.
• Certification through ABRET in EEG, evoked potential, nerve conductions/EMG, or surgical monitoring is recommended.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic testing according to laboratory standards and technical protocols, including EEG, AEEG, EP, NCV, EMG, AABR, otoacoustic emissions, operative monitoring, and transcranial Doppler studies.
• Educate patients and families about test procedures and obtain appropriate pretest information.
• Safely operate and maintain equipment and electrodes according to manufacturer specifications.
• Calibrate and troubleshoot equipment.
• Use good clinical judgment to provide appropriate testing with proper technical parameters and record observations as needed.
• Obtain high-quality records through proper electrode application, patient reassurance and comfort, appropriate instrumentation, and documentation of medical history, observations, and clinical manifestations.
• Use professional judgment and creativity to present alternatives or innovative solutions to problems encountered during testing, and modify the environment to achieve maximal testing.
• Meet performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and staff and self-development as outlined in the performance review.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth department or unit operations.
