About The Position
As an EEG Tech, you will perform diagnostic electroencephalography, seizure monitoring, and evoked potential recordings of the brain or central nervous system according to physician orders and established protocols. You will prepare patients, maintain a safe testing environment, conduct studies, observe and document results, and monitor equipment under direct healthcare provider supervision. The role requires thorough knowledge of EEG equipment, ongoing skill development, and participation in quality assurance programs to support diagnostic accuracy and patient safety. The position is at CHI Health Immanuel in North Omaha, which offers a full-service hospital, cancer center, rehabilitation center, specialty spine hospital, and other services. Eligible new hires may receive a $4,800 sign-on bonus and $10,000 in education assistance.
Requirements
- One to two years of clinical experience in an EEG/EMG lab, or medical assisting experience.
- Basic Life Support (CPR) certification upon hire.
- Thorough knowledge of EEG equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform standard and complex electroencephalographic recordings.
- Perform seizure monitoring and evoked potential recordings according to physician orders and established protocols.
- Prepare patients, explain procedures, and ensure a safe testing environment.
- Assist the physician with electromyography; place patients on the examination table.
- Observe and document study results and monitor equipment.
- Keep equipment clean and in operating condition; troubleshoot and repair minor malfunctions and initiate repairs for malfunctioning equipment.
- Maintain confidentiality of protected medical and employee information, using confidential information only as needed for legitimate duties.
- Transport patients while maintaining their safety and comfort.
- Make entries in the medical record consistent with and limited to the scope of job duties and any applicable licensure.
- Participate in quality assurance programs and keep skills current.
