About The Position

Provides academic instruction to students in accordance with approved curriculum and promotes student achievement. This role involves direct supervision of academic education staff, providing staff training, and supervising student orientation delivery. The manager is responsible for developing lesson plans, administering tests, identifying and modifying instructional resources, and recommending curricula changes. Additionally, the role includes motivating and counseling students, coordinating with other staff to resolve issues affecting student training, maintaining student records, and modeling appropriate behaviors.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • High energy level and ability to engage students.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional strategies, classroom management and content field.
  • Ability to quickly learn Job Corps methodologies and strategies.
  • Ability to use different methods and mediums in delivering course material.
  • Ability to effectively respond to student issues as they arise.
  • Proficient in the use of a personal computer with emphasis on Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision of all academic education and staff.
  • Providing staff training to comply with expected outcomes and quality indicators prescribed in the PRH.
  • Supervising the delivery of student orientation in the functional areas.
  • Developing and preparing lesson plans; administering and correcting tests.
  • Identifying, selecting, and modifying instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
  • Recommending curricula changes and supplemental materials.
  • Motivating and counseling students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems or study habits.
  • Coordinating with independent living advisors, counselors and other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student training.
  • Recording and forwarding daily attendance to Student Records; maintaining student personnel folders.
  • Modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
