About The Position

Responsible for overseeing the daily operations and management of Southgate School, a facility school at Cedar Springs. This includes supervising all staff at Southgate School under the direction of the Special Education Director, when applicable. The role involves conducting and managing all Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to ensure compliance for students transitioning in and out of Southgate School, as well as handling reevaluations and other essential duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently stands, walks, kneels, reaches while working with patients/students.
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and physical restraint of patients.
  • Ability to perform CPR and First Aid.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle if necessary.
  • Ability to type and use computer-based programs (Infinite Campus/Project Education).
  • Must be able to articulate effectively via multiple platforms (email, phone calls, meetings, etc.).
  • Ability to visually supervise patients/students and hear requests for assistance from patients/students and staff.
  • Able to problem solve situations under stressful situations.
  • Emotional stability necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Vision and hearing sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Strong understanding of both federal and state education regulations and laws, applicable to both special education and general education.
  • Familiarity with the standards and requirements of various educational regulatory agencies.

  • Special Education License by Colorado Department of Education is required.
  • CPR and first aid certification as requested.
  • Must meet or exceed hospital and regulatory agency training requirements along with requirement to maintain the CDE License.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Special Education preferred.
  • Proficiency in Infinite Campus and Project Ed.
  • Five (5) years working with special education students (SED/OHI) preferred.
  • Three (3) years administrative/supervisory experience preferred.
  • Prefer individual who has worked in a facility school setting.
