About The Position

The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. The Family and Community Partnerships Division of the University of New Mexico’s Center for Development and Disability is seeking an Education Consultant to implement the activities of the CDD/FCPD Partners for Employment Project SEARCH contracts. This position will work in collaboration with educators, state partners, providers and employers to ensure effective delivery of program components. The Education Consultant will need to provide guidance related to Project SEARCH programs. The Education Consultant must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in diverse communities. In addition, they must possess knowledge of Project SEARCH processes and their application within the state of New Mexico. The individual who is hired for this position will need the ability to coordinate team-based work on multiple projects with shifting priorities, and to meet monthly reporting deadlines. This position requires regular statewide travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in diverse communities.
  • Knowledge of Project SEARCH processes and their application within the state of New Mexico.
  • Passing a background check with fingerprinting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience implementing Project SEARCH practices at both new and existing sites.
  • Extensive knowledge about the coordination of integrated, community-based work experience for individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance related to Project SEARCH programs.
  • Coordinate team-based work on multiple projects with shifting priorities.
  • Meet monthly reporting deadlines.
  • Implement the activities of the CDD/FCPD Partners for Employment Project SEARCH contracts.
  • Work in collaboration with educators, state partners, providers and employers to ensure effective delivery of program components.
  • Deliver presentations to diverse groups including employers, state-partners, providers and individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Develop materials for use at Project SEARCH sites, including guidance materials, newsletters and marketing materials.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with partners to deliver Project SEARCH program requirements.
