About The Position

This job posting is for an existing vacancy within Tungasuvvingat Inuit (TI). TI's mission is to provide Inuit-specific programs that contribute to the health and wellbeing of Inuit and to encourage and support similar programs across the country, leveraging over 30 years of experience and incorporating Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ) principles. The Education and Training Coordinator, reporting to the Manager of Kamatsiarniq Initiatives, is responsible for the successful implementation of Cultural Sensitivity Training and development. This involves creating an Inuit-specific curriculum for service providers working with Inuit children, youth, and families. The role includes coordinating workplan activities, ensuring project deliverables, and planning, organizing, and delivering virtual and in-person training initiatives for various groups including Inuit service providers, foster and kin caregivers, and children's aid societies in Ontario.

Requirements

A post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant program of study such as Indigenous Studies, Education, Early Childhood Education, Social Work, or Social Services.
Experience providing workshops, group facilitation, and developing and delivering training and education
Experience in project and/or program management, and event planning and coordination
Experience working with the Inuit community and in a not-for-profit community organization
Proficient use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, video-conferencing platforms
Knowledge of education and training techniques, curriculum development and program evaluation methodologies.
Strong knowledge of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit and Inuit culture, societal values, customs, and traditions.
In-depth and comprehensive understanding of the history of Inuit in Canada and the impact of urbanization and colonization as well as the socio-economic determinates of health that impact urban Inuit in Ontario.
Strong knowledge of project management techniques and methodologies.
Excellent interpersonal skills, communication (oral and written), public speaking, group facilitation skills.
Intermediate financial management and budgeting skills.
Proven ability to multi-task and complete multiple assignments simultaneously.
Strong initiative, motivated and able to work independently and with a high degree of autonomy while knowing when to communicate and consult with supervisor, team members and subject matter experts.
Ability to work from a strength-based, trauma-informed, and community member centered approach.
Ability to operationalize a decolonizing and anti-oppressive approach.
Proven ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural team environment
Fluency in English required

Responsibilities

Lead, plan, coordinate and manage all activities related to co-facilitating training sessions (e.g. meetings, consultations, management of consultants, curriculum development, delivery of programs, etc.).
Assist in the organization, coordination and execution of consultations, curriculum development sessions and co-facilitate training.
Assist with travel and transportation arrangements for participants.
Identify and resolve issues that arise in project delivery, and report concerns to the Manager of Kamatsiarniq Initiatives.
Meet all tracking, evaluation, and reporting requirements of funders and TI and prepare and submit various reports as required (project status updates, participant enrolment, etc.)
Adhere to the project budget and work closely with the Manager of Kamatsiarniq Initiatives.
Arrange for reimbursements and honoraria to be provided to project participants as required.
Establish and maintain positive working relationships and engage with various agencies and stakeholders to strengthen, develop, and promote the project.
Communicate regularly with Manager, partners, funders, and other stakeholders to keep them update on progress.
Support the role of Elders and cultural knowledge holders in sharing traditional knowledge within the project.
Develop, plan, and coordinate the delivery of the following training and education programs in-person and virtually: Education workshops for Inuit service providers; Inuit cultural competency training for children’s aid societies, residential service providers, foster caregivers and kin caregivers, health care professionals, police services, and other service providers to improve their ability to provide culturally appropriate services and supports for Inuit children and youth; Education and training workshops for Inuit parents and youth involved with or at risk of involvement with children’s aid societies to increase their knowledge of their rights and child protection process in Ontario.
Engage with subject matter experts, community members and Elders to develop content for training sessions.
Recruit and coordinate subject matter experts, facilitators, and Elders to assist with the delivery of workshops.
Oversee the implementation of protocols which maintain activity spaces and ensure the environment is clean and safe.
Actively promote training to relevant service provider organizations and community members.
Organize the purchasing, printing and distribution of all materials required for training sessions.
Develop and implement evaluation processes to gather participant feedback and assess effectiveness of education and training workshops.
Capture program participant data and meet all tracking, evaluation, and reporting requirements of funder and TI and prepare and submit various reports as required.
Adhere to project budgets and work closely with the Manager of Kamatsiarniq initiatives and Director, Finance.
Arrange for reimbursements and honoraria to be provided to guest speakers, Elders, and other third parties as required.
Establish and maintain positive working relationships and engage with various TI programs, partner organizations, Elders and cultural knowledge holders, community members and other stakeholders to develop, deliver and promote training sessions.
Become familiar with and comply with all of TI’s policies and procedures; and
Any other duties assigned to you as may reasonably be required in line with the Position’s main responsibilities
