ED Charge Capture Specialist
About The Position
The ED Charge Capture Specialist supports Emergency Department facility charging operations. The role focuses on facility-side charge capture, including ED facility levels, injections and infusions, bedside procedures, and charge review workflows within Epic. The specialist reviews ED treat-and-release, ED-to-inpatient, and ED-to-observation encounters, ensuring accurate facility charges based on documentation and awareness of admit-order timing and charging periods. The position requires maintaining productivity and quality standards and communicating effectively through Teams and email. This is a contract position based out of Richmond, Virginia, and is fully remote. The listed pay range is $30.00–$34.00 per hour. Requirements
- At least 2 years of Emergency Department facility charge capture experience.
- Experience with ED facility levels and CPT-based charging.
- Knowledge of injection and infusion charging.
- Experience reviewing bedside procedures and facility charges.
- Epic experience.
- Strong understanding of revenue integrity and charge reconciliation.
Responsibilities
- Work ED charge review queues within Epic.
- Review ED treat-and-release, ED-to-inpatient, and ED-to-observation encounters.
- Validate ED facility levels and charging accuracy.
- Review and charge injections and infusions.
- Identify and charge bedside procedures.
- Ensure appropriate charge assignment based on documentation.
- Review inpatient and observation encounters with awareness of admit-order timing and charging periods.
- Use Epic Charge Navigator, Optum Lynx, and 3M Encoder.
- Maintain productivity and quality standards.
- Communicate effectively through Teams and email.
