About The Position

The Charge Capture Specialist performs audits of obstetrics (OB) and emergency department (ED) accounts to identify appropriate room rates, nursery levels, ED evaluation and management (E/M) levels, supply and pharmacy charges, and CPT-coded procedures for services provided. The specialist completes manual charge-entry sheets based on CPN (OB) and T System (ED) documentation, audits patient charts and accounts to determine necessary charge corrections, submits appropriate corrections, and provides information about drug-charge discrepancies to Pharmacy personnel.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Three years of clinical experience in a hospital or physician office setting; prior clinical experience may be considered in lieu of a license.
• Effective communication skills with internal hospital departments.
• Ability to effectively and accurately manage a large volume of medical records.

Nice To Haves

• Graduate of a state board school of nursing.
• Current Tennessee or multistate nursing license as an RN or LPN.
• Prior medical experience.
