About The Position

Backed by a fifth-generation family-owned company, Spicers is a leading distributor of commercial print and business papers, specialty products, graphic solutions, sign & display equipment and materials, and packaging and facility supplies and equipment. We’re based in Vaughan, Ontario, with 13 regional locations that include custom manufacturing facilities in Edmonton, Toronto and Winnipeg, as well as cash and carry locations, product showrooms and equipment demo sites. We are currently looking for a full-time eCommerce Operations Developer located in Vaughan, Ontario, reporting to the Digital Marketing Manager.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development, or related field, or equivalent practical experience demonstrating strong technical capability
  • 5+ years of ecommerce, web application, or digital commerce development experience
  • Strong hands-on JavaScript development, debugging, and troubleshooting experience within custom web or ecommerce applications
  • Experience supporting or implementing B2B ecommerce platforms
  • Experience building, supporting, and troubleshooting APIs, middleware workflows, and systems integrations across multiple business platforms
  • Understanding of ecommerce architecture, order flows, payment processing, inventory synchronization, and catalog management
  • Familiar and passionate about AI tools that support UX, eComm and engagement/performance
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to business stakeholders
  • Experience working in complex enterprise or distribution environments
  • Ability to support both legacy and modernized technology environments simultaneously
  • Experience working within customized or legacy ecommerce environments requiring ongoing enhancement and operational support
  • Experience supporting data synchronization and transactional workflows across interconnected business systems
  • Experience with modern ecommerce platforms and digital commerce ecosystems

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the current GoSpicers ecommerce environment and associated integrations
  • Troubleshoot ecommerce application issues, production incidents, and platform performance concerns
  • Support and troubleshoot integrations between ecommerce, ERP, payment, CMS, marketing automation, and middleware systems
  • Assist with platform monitoring, issue resolution, and operational continuity initiatives
  • Work alongside infrastructure, ERP, marketing, and external vendor teams to support business-critical ecommerce operations
  • Identify opportunities to improve system stability, maintainability, and supportability proactively
  • Develop, troubleshoot, and maintain custom JavaScript-based ecommerce functionality and related application components
  • Monitor and support data synchronization workflows between ecommerce, ERP, WordPress, Mailchimp, and related business systems
  • Support the ongoing evolution, enhancement, and eventual modernization of Spicers Canada’s ecommerce ecosystem and digital commerce architecture
  • Contribute to improving and modernizing the current ecommerce ecosystem while supporting business continuity and operational stability
  • Manage and enhance ecommerce functionality, integrations, customer experience improvements, and digital merchandising capabilities across the current and future commerce ecosystem
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and systems integration partners on modernization initiatives
  • Contribute to improving ecommerce scalability, performance, SEO, reliability, and operational resiliency
  • Participate in technical planning, documentation, testing, and deployment activities related to ecommerce modernization
  • Build and maintain APIs, data integrations, and automation workflows supporting ecommerce operations
  • Support product, pricing, customer, inventory, and order synchronization processes
  • Collaborate with Marketing on promotions, landing pages, digital content, and customer-facing ecommerce experiences
  • Support ecommerce reporting, analytics, and operational improvement initiatives
  • Perform testing, validation, and troubleshooting of integrations, transactional workflows, and platform functionality across interconnected systems
  • Support operational reporting, data validation, and issue analysis across ecommerce, middleware, and ERP systems
  • Assist with identifying and resolving data flow, synchronization, and transactional integrity issues
  • Document technical processes, integrations, and operational procedures to build shared team knowledge
  • Communicate project progress, risks, and recommendations clearly to both technical and business stakeholders
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams across Marketing, IT, Operations, and external partners
