About The Position

Performs sonographic testing to record anatomical structures and their motions. Prepares patients psychologically and physically for examination, operates the echocardiographic recorder during examinations, visualizes cardiac structures, and selects appropriate tracings for the cardiologist. The position is responsible for carrying out Houston Healthcare’s mission, vision, and quality commitment. Call rotation is required, with arrival within 30 minutes of notification. The technician may perform other cardiovascular duties as required and may be trained for additional cath lab duties.

Requirements

• Completion of an approved/accredited Ultrasound program or a two-year echocardiography program; education may be substituted with experience.
• 15 years of experience as a Cardio/Echocardiography Technician; experience may be substituted with education.
• Current AHA/ARC BLS certification required.
• RDCS or RCS certification required or must be obtained within 9 months.
• Successful completion of an HHC Basic Rhythm Interpretation Course or CLEP Exam within nine months of hire.
• Knowledge of cardiac terminology to communicate effectively with patients and medical staff.
• Knowledge of and ability to operate cardiac equipment commonly used in procedures.
• Compassion, good communication skills, patient focus, and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow physician instructions accurately.
• Ability to spend long hours on feet and work with a variety of patients.
