About The Position

Mission Regional Medical Center is seeking an Echocardiography Technologist (Echo Tech) to perform echocardiograms, ultrasound scans of patients’ hearts. This is a per diem/PRN, as-needed position with variable shifts and hours at Mission Regional Medical Center in Mission, Texas. Mission Regional Medical Center is a 297-bed, non-profit hospital serving the Rio Grande Valley with inpatient and outpatient services. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintained as required.
ARDMS or CCI credential required.

Nice To Haves

Completion of an echocardiogram program certification.
EKG rhythm analysis/interpretation certificate or equivalent.
Ability to assist a physician with TEE testing.
Previous experience performing echocardiograms for patients of all ages.
Hospital experience in the cardiology field.
Registered echocardiographer status.
Ability to perform stress testing.

Responsibilities

Use an ultrasound machine to generate images of the heart’s chambers, valves, and blood vessels by positioning and adjusting the ultrasound probe to capture different views.
Assess the size, configuration, and motion of the heart’s chambers and valves; analyze blood circulation; and identify irregularities, including valve malfunctions, cardiac muscle impairment, or congenital heart anomalies.
Prepare patients for procedures, explain the process, support patient comfort, and communicate positioning or breathing instructions as needed.
Maintain and calibrate ultrasound equipment and perform quality-control checks to ensure image quality and equipment functionality.
Accurately document findings and observations in patient records; assist cardiologists or physicians with interpreting results and preparing diagnostic reports as needed.
Maintain professional certifications, participate in continuing education, and stay current with echocardiography techniques and technology.
Meet maintenance requirements for ARDMS or CCI certifications.
