About The Position

This position is for an Earth Science Associate Instructor for the 2026-2027 academic year. The instructor will be part of a pool of candidates considered for various teaching opportunities within the Earth Science discipline. The role requires sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in geology, geophysics, earth sciences, meteorology, oceanography, or paleontology
• OR Master’s degree in geological sciences or geology & geophysics (an approved comparable degree title at MiraCosta College)
• OR bachelor’s degree in geology AND master’s degree in geography, physics, or geochemistry
• OR a valid appropriate California Community College Credential in the discipline area
• OR the equivalent
• Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
