About The Position

Early Learning Tutors serve in pre-kindergarten classrooms, partnering with teachers to help young students build early literacy and math skills, confidence, and a love of learning. Tutors receive training and ongoing coaching, and support preschoolers through activities such as talking, reading, writing, singing, and playing. The role also includes assessing skills, tracking student progress, and entering scores into tracking software. Positions are available for the 2026–27 school year, running August 2026 through June 2027. The full-time schedule is 35 hours per week, with fewer hours during weeks with holidays or school release days. Work is during daytime school hours, Monday through Friday, with no weekends. Part-time options of 25 or 15 hours per week are also available. AmeriCorps members have a total service-hour commitment for the program year; most hours are completed at their service site, and approved service or training may occasionally take place outside the school day. Early Learning Corps is administered by Ampact, a nonprofit organization, and powered by AmeriCorps members. It began in 2003 and has helped more than 128,000 children build early literacy and numeracy skills and prepare for kindergarten. Ampact prohibits discrimination and harassment based on protected characteristics and offers reasonable accommodation upon request.
