About The Position

Join Our Team as a Floating Teacher! Are you passionate about nurturing young minds and supporting a positive, engaging learning environment? The YMCA of the North Shore is looking for a caring, flexible, and energetic Floating Teacher to make a difference every day! As a Floating Teacher, you will: Support classroom teachers, lead teachers, and directors in creating fun, developmentally appropriate activities that spark curiosity and growth. Help maintain a warm, safe, and welcoming environment where every child can learn and thrive. Assist with daily classroom organization and cleanliness, ensuring materials are put away and spaces are ready for discovery. Communicate positively with parents and caregivers—while respecting confidentiality and following our YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Help keep records accurate and up-to-date, including attendance, meal counts, and incident reports. Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Meet Teacher qualifications as determined by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC).
  • A solid understanding of children’s growth and development—and the creativity to turn this knowledge into engaging, age-appropriate activities!
  • Understanding of child development and ability to apply this knowledge in daily activities.
  • Review and follow center policies, including Health Care Policy, Parent Handbook, and Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention Policy.
  • Maintain current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Complete all required trainings, certifications, and orientation as outlined by the MA Department of Early Education and Care and the YMCA of the North Shore Training Plan.
