About The Position

Ascension Christian School is seeking an Early Learning Center Teacher/Floater to support the spiritual, emotional, and developmental growth of children by fostering a nurturing, Christ-centered classroom. This is a Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm position. The team member will work with various age groups, including infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, implementing age-appropriate activities and care.

Requirements

  • Support children's spiritual, emotional, and developmental growth.
  • Foster a nurturing, Christ-centered classroom.
  • Provide nurturing behaviors to infants.
  • Read stories to infants.
  • Feed infants.
  • Talk to infants during feeding and diapering.
  • Play with infants on the floor.
  • Provide and discuss learning aids with infants.
  • Encourage infant developmental milestones.
  • Practice appropriate sanitary practices (hand washing).
  • Read to toddlers in small groups or individually.
  • Assist toddlers with bathroom/diapering and hand washing.
  • Talk to toddlers during meals.
  • Assist toddlers with dressing and eating independently.
  • Engage toddlers in language and gross motor skill games.
  • Introduce toddlers to drawing and play activities.
  • Follow preschool curriculum in daily teaching.
  • Implement daily lesson plans for preschoolers.
  • Utilize activity centers appropriately.
  • Engage preschoolers in conversation individually and in groups.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nurturing behaviors to infants: picking them up, holding, and rocking throughout the day.
  • Read stories to the infants daily while holding them.
  • Feed the infants while holding them or 1-1 in a high chair.
  • Talk to the infants while feeding and diapering.
  • Play with the infant on the floor for a portion of the day.
  • Provide learning aids to the infant and talk about them with the infant.
  • Encourage the infant to sit, roll over, scoot, crawl, stand, and walk following developmental guidelines.
  • Practice appropriate sanitary practices: always washing own hands & infant’s hands.
  • Read to the children in small groups or individually daily.
  • Practice appropriate sanitary practices: always washing a child’s hands after assisting the child in using the bathroom/diapering and assisting the child in washing his hands.
  • Talk to children while eating with them or feeding them.
  • Assist children in becoming more independent in areas such as dressing and eating.
  • Engage children in games promoting language and gross motor skills.
  • Introduce children to drawing and play activities.
  • Follow curriculum in daily teaching for the preschool age group.
  • Read to children in small groups to meet curriculum goals.
  • Implement daily lesson plans as developed.
  • Use activity centers in appropriate ways.
  • Engage children in conversation, both individually and in group settings.
  • Practice appropriate sanitary practices: always washing a child’s hands after assisting the child in using the bathroom and assisting the child in washing his hands.
